Your journal is private.
Last updated: March 2026
Vesper is a journaling app. What you write is personal, and we treat it that way. This policy explains — in plain language — what happens to your data.
The short version: your entries stay on your device. We don't collect them, read them, or share them. Ever.
1. What information we collect
Vesper collects very little information, and nothing that identifies you personally to us.
- Journal entries — your moods, photos, and notes — are stored entirely on your iPhone. We cannot access them.
- If you contact us (via email or our support form), we receive your name and email address. We use this only to respond to your request.
- If you make a purchase (premium subscription), payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but not your payment details.
We do not collect analytics, crash data, or behavioural telemetry by default. If this changes, we will update this policy and notify you.
2. How your data is stored
All journal entries are stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage. Your data never passes through Vesper's servers.
Vesper is deliberately local-only. There is no cloud sync, no server, and no account. Your data never leaves your device — it cannot be intercepted, leaked, or accessed remotely, because it is never transmitted anywhere.
3. Notifications
Vesper may send you a daily reminder notification at a time you choose. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device — they are not sent from a server and contain no personal information. You can disable them at any time in the iOS Settings app under Notifications → Vesper, or from within Vesper's settings.
4. Third-party services
Vesper uses no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking tools.
The following Apple services are used:
- App Store / StoreKit — in-app purchase handling for premium features.
- UserNotifications framework — local notification scheduling (no server involved).
5. Data retention and deletion
Your journal data lives exclusively on your device. You are in full control of it — there is no server-side copy and no account to close.
To delete all your data: open Vesper → Settings → Data → Delete All Entries. This permanently removes all entries from your device. The action cannot be undone. Because Vesper is local-only, there is no backup to restore from and nothing stored elsewhere.
6. Children's privacy
Vesper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Because we hold very little personal data about you (only what you voluntarily send us via email or our contact form), your rights under applicable privacy laws — including GDPR and CCPA — are straightforward to exercise.
- You can request to know what personal information we hold about you.
- You can request deletion of any personal information we hold.
- You can withdraw consent for us to contact you at any time.
Contact us at privacy@vesperapp.com to exercise any of these rights.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify users via an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
